My 6 year old asks more questions about this book than any other in his collection, which includes Shel Silverstein, a preponderance of Dog Man, and a few weirdos concerning various natural disasters. “Why do some people give everything they are?” opens into some good conversations. It’s an instant classic from the easily the most talented person I met in film school. More, please!
She loves the book and regularly asks to read it before bed!!! Thanks so much...it has captured the imagination of one five year old.
It’s beautifully done and a well told story!
It is a perfect book to read to kids...maybe 4th graders on up...and yes, one that wants to be read again and again. Here is just one line that I loved (Blue Man said to Cardboard Man); “That’s okay, my life’s about as keen as a chicken’s armpit anyway.” Such great words. Fun to say, fun to read.
The kids really liked the illustrations.
(5 year old) enjoyed the book. It made her look into the deeper meanings. (2 year old) was a little confused and was scared by some of the characters but she was intrigued. I thought it had a good message and was unique. But it was a touch long. We read it over two nights. I think it depends on audience. For someone younger like (2 year old) it might be a bit too long but for an older (5 year old) kid with longer attention span it was good.
Amazing artist and writer. I had the pleasure to meet Chris who wrote and illustrated the book. Beautiful book easy to read good balance of words and images. A wonderful story that widen the horizon of my child.
